- Jennie married Edson H. Elliot, son of Horace H. Elliott and Martha Colby Ordway, on January 13, 1882 in Boston, Massachusetts. She later married Wilson Clark Whitney on 22 Dec 1908.3,4

- John E. "Jack" Higgins was born on September 18, 1929 in Sumter, Valley County, Nebraska, and was raised in the Ord area.1
- He was the son of John Leo Higgins and Maude Else Glines.1
- John E. "Jack" Higgins moved to Wolbach, Greeley County, Nebraska, after the death of his mother.1
- Jack entered the United States Air Force on Jan. 9, 1951, serving in Korea. He received his discharge on Aug. 4, 1954.
He attended Southeast Community College, graduating with a degree in diesel technology.
Jack and Peggy lived in Grand Island for 34 years. He worked as a mechanic, then as a power plant operator and superintendent.
He enjoyed reading, playing cards and working with his farm tractors. For a number of years, Jack served as a volunteer for the National Weather Service as an official weather observer. Jack was a licensed amateur radio operator with the call sign KA0CPO.
He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and Carl Mogensen American Legion Post 119, both of St. Paul.
He was a past commander of the former Veterans of Foreign Wars of St. Paul. He was also a member of the Platt-Duetsche Society of Grand Island.1 - John married Peggy Nealon on August 20, 1955 in O'Connor, Greeley County, Nebraska.1
- John died on January 26, 2010 in Nebraska Veteran's Home, Grand Island, Hall County, Nebraska, at age 80. Services were held at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul, The Rev. Ray Kosmicki officiating. The flag was presented to the family at the church by the Nebraska Military Honor Guard and Carl Mogensen American Legion Post 119 of St. Paul.1
- He was buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Saint Paul, Howard County, Nebraska, It was Mr. Higgins' wish to have his body donated to the Nebraska Anatomical Board after the funeral service.1
