  • He was the son of John Day Howard Jr. and Sophia Hinckley.1
  • Samuel married Anna Eliza Brimhall, daughter of Elisha S. Brimhall and Susannah Jordan Hovey, on February 25, 1845 in Boston, Massachusetts.3

    Howard, Samuel, tailor. householder at 1 Lynde place.
  • The census of 1855 shows: Samuel Howard, 33, a tailor; and Anna Eliza Brimhall, 35; listed with Colonel George E. Howard and Susan Eliza Howard
    living at Chelsea, Massachusetts.
    Also living there were Caroline Burse, 23; Irene Burse, 19; and Mary J Belmont, 27.4

  • On February 1, 1856, Samuel Howard was mentioned on the birth record of Samuel Howard.5


  • The Boston City Directory 1857 lists:
