- Chauncey married Rosetta Hale, daughter of Jacob Hale and Roccina Beebe, on November 1, 1835 in Schroepple, Oswego County, New York.2
- Chauncey married early in 1856 in Minnasota as his second wife, Aris Potter, the daughter of William Ellery and Electa (Smith) Potter and widow of James Hannah. She was born 17 July 1823 of Springfield, Erie, Pennsylvania and died in 1893 or 1894.2
- He was murdered by claims jumpers on August 8, 1867 in North Dakota.2
