- Dr. Abraham Lowe was born in 1755 in that part of Ipswich which is now Essex, Massachusetts.2
- He served for a short time in the Revolutionary army, and narrowly escaped capture at the evacuation of New York. He studied medicine in Lunenburg, Mass., and settled at Ashburnham in 1784. He was highly respected as a physician and a man, always maintained the character of an honorable and public-spirited citizen; accumulated a handsome property; was a man of great dignity of person and character.2
- Abraham married Charlotte Hale, daughter of Nathan Hale and Abigail Grout, on October 30, 1788 in Rindge, Cheshire County, New Hampshire.2
