These were the wealthy and prominent Jews useful to the Russian Empire during the time that Saint Petersburg was the capital city and residence of the Tsar. Somerime after her brother Louis Rubin was born in 1880, Jews were expelled from the city and banished to the Pale of Settlement in Ukraine and Poland.2,3,4

- Her son William wrote `My mother spoke no English, but understood it well; she spoke only Jewish which we all understood.8'
- Marshe died on October 20, 1924 in Boston, Massachusetts.3
