Virginia Ravell1

b. December 1, 1923, d. April 28, 2013
  • Virginia Ravell was born on December 1, 1923 in Waltham, Massachusetts. She was a graduate of Belmont High School and during World War II she worked several months for Army Intelligence before joining her husband, a Naval Officer, in California.2
  • She was the daughter of Albert B. Ravell and Dorothy H. Hodge.1
  • Virginia married Thomas J. Hazlett in 1943/44.2
  • As the spouse of a career Foreign Service officer, "Ginny" enjoyed the culture and lifestyle of their assignments in Latin America, Europe, and Japan. In every location, she focused her efforts on improving the lives of the less fortunate, especially children. She taught first and second grade in Chile and Dominican Republic.

Notwithstanding these great years, her real loves were her children and her church. Upon their retirement to Cape Cod, Virginia started Loma Linda, a small business that imported collectibles from Portugal. Always dedicated to helping others, she was a member of the Women's Guild at Our Lady of Victory Church, and other charitable organizations such as Meals on Wheels. She will be remembered by all for her inimitable smile.2
  • Virginia died on April 28, 2013 in Centerville, Massachusetts, at age 89.2
  • She was buried in Beechwood Cemetery, Centerville, Massachusetts.2
